Girls

Okay, now that I've talked about boys, its time to talk about Girls. Well, the band Girls that is! So, maybe they are still more boys, but they have really great music. I saw them at Seattle's Capitol Hill Block party a couple years ago and really liked them, but didn't really start listening. After some recent NME hype, I've decided its time to get into them. This first video makes me really reminiscent of my time in San Francisco a few years ago, and the second video is just a great song. I'm pretty sure the song "Laura" was on a commercial or movie I just saw, but I can't place it for the life of me.

Hot look-alikes

Okay, this is a really goofy post. But I just have to share my recent obsession with Charlie Hunnam who plays "Jax" on Sons of Anarchy. He is the perfect combo of Brad Pitt and Kurt Cobain.....can we say yum? Clearly I am deprived of males right now. Oh, and he's British. Let's not forget the icing on the cake!

Blast from My Past

I recently indulged in re-watching the series "My So-Called Life," so good. The best ones die young right? Well, I also found myself being quite inspired by, weirdly, the fashion. It seems that certain grunge-esque looks from our childhood are resurfacing in a big way, just check out the latest from Urban Outfitters. I think one lesson we can learn is that your local thrift store might be the perfect place to shop this fall. I mean, when fashion recycles itself that quickly...

Urban Wall Art

Check out these cute finds from Urban Outfitters! What a great way for artists to get their stuff out there. Not sure what kind of a cut the big chain takes however.

Baby I'm Amazed

If you are a Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, or Pink Floyd fan, you will most likely appreciate New York's latest psychedelic rock band, "Amazing Baby". These lads are tight with Indie Rock sensations MGMT, and clearly share a similar passion for psychedelic drugs. This trend has inspired a sort of primitive, tribal fantasy world sensation amongst many young hipster types (face paint and feathers anyone?). Unlike MGMT, Amazing Baby's first full length album "Rewild" is all classic rock instrumentals, and refrains from any electronic synth sounds. If you didn't know any better, you could have sworn these boys played at Woodstock.

No Pain No Gain

New fav band of the moment: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. And what a descriptive band name I might add. I think they just summed up the essence of Morrissey right there. Their music, consequently, does emulate that lovely innocent yet sexy yearning of The Smiths and perhaps Belle & Sebastian. Melancholy, romantic, passionate, and filled with ideals. A teenager with loads of dreams that might be little bit too much to ask for in the real world, but sound really beautiful in song form. The streaming steady guitar rhythm also reminisces in other nineties bands like My Bloody Valentine or even slow Smashing Pumpkins sounds. Also reminds me a lot of a small band from Vancouver BC called "Young and Sexy." Fitting in with the mood I think.

Top of the Pops

Lets just take a moment to worship Top Shop. Leave it to Kate Moss to be the queen of rocker chick fashion. This stuff is the epitome of what to be seen in at night in music scene. Dressed up, but not too much. Edgy and playful, but not a costume. Sexy, but not trying too hard, just teasing. So of the moment, yet timeless in its appeal. Way to go Kate!

Also find loads of misc. rocker fashions at this great site:

Polyvore also allows you to easily create your own fashion montage spread (just click on "create"). Quite fun for playing with looks. Some member contributions are better than others, no filtering here.
